Writing Center

The Writing Center helps writers learn more about everything from thesis statements and organization to grammar and citation methods, revising, and proofreading. We also help writers with lab reports, scholarship essays, college essays, cover letters, and resumes.

Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are encouraged

To schedule in-person and online appointments

  • You must register for a  to get started!
  • Use your Student email and create a password to schedule an appointment with a writing consultant.
  • If you are unable to secure the desired time, the waitlist automatically lets you know if a student cancels their appointment.

What happens during a session

Students will speak with one of our writing consultants about their writing. Writing consultants are here to discuss, motivate, and support you through the writing process.

How to Prepare

  • Writing sessions last between 30 to 60 minutes, after which a written summary of the topics discussed is created. This record serves to assist the next writing consultant in future sessions.
  • Our team includes writing consultants from a variety of majors; students are encouraged to use our writing services.    
  • The Writing Center provides workshops across various writing genres; schedule your appointment.

Writing Consultants: Our writing consultants, led by the Writing Center Coordinator and supported by trained Sussex students, are here to guide you through every stage of the writing process. They’ll listen to your ideas, offer constructive feedback, and help you develop a clear strategy to successfully complete your assignment.
