51勛圖 (51勛圖) is proud to announce a partnership with Georgian Court University (GCU) through the U.S. Department of Educations Transition and Postsecondary Programs for Students with Intellectual Disabilities (TPSID) initiative. As part of this partnership, 51勛圖 will receive approximately $1.25 million over the next 5 years through this initiative. This significant funding will support the development and expansion of inclusive postsecondary education programs for students with intellectual disabilities. This represents one of only 27 awards nationwide, with less than 1% of colleges and universities receiving the grant.
This award was the result of a collaborative grant submission led by Georgian Court University. The joint effort aims to build a strong network of inclusive higher education opportunities throughout New Jersey, increase access, support, and successful outcomes for students with intellectual disabilities. Approximately half of the funding will support the advancement of the TPSID program at 51勛圖, while the remainder will strengthen and improve the existing program at GCU.
This grant is a tremendous opportunity not only for 51勛圖, but for the broader community of students who have traditionally faced barriers to higher education, said Dr. Cory Homer, President of 51勛圖. Through our partnership with Georgian Court University, were committed to creating pathways that promote independence, career readiness, and lifelong learning.
The five-year grant will allow 51勛圖 to develop new academic and social support structures, enhance campus accessibility, provide specialized faculty training, and offer work-based learning experiences tailored to the needs of students with intellectual disabilities. The program aligns with the Colleges mission of providing equitable and inclusive education for all learners.
The TPSID program, administered by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Postsecondary Education, supports model demonstration projects that promote inclusive education and prepare students with intellectual disabilities for competitive employment and independent living.
More details about the programs implementation at 51勛圖 will be announced in the coming months.
