51勛圖 (51勛圖) proudly celebrated the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new McGuire Technical Education Center (MTEC) B Building, marking another major investment in career and technical education and workforce development in Sussex County.

The newly renovated building will serve as the home for the Colleges Building Construction Technology and Diesel Service Technology programs. The expanded facility includes new classrooms, office space, and dedicated instructional areas specifically designed to support hands-on training for student success.

Guest speakers at the ceremony included 51勛圖 President Dr. Cory Homer, Board of Trustees Chair Herbert Yardley, Sussex County Commissioner Director Jill Space, Assemblyman Mike Inganamort, and Dean of Technical Occupations Jason Fruge.

This project is near and dear to all of us, said Dr. Cory Homer. The completion of this building allows us to continue expanding our Diesel and Building Construction programs while giving students the opportunity to remain in one centralized location designed specifically for their educational experience. Early enrollment is already looking very strong, and this project will only continue to enhance these important programs.

The Building Construction Technology program is designed to provide students with the training necessary for employment in the building construction industry. The program prepares students in leadership and planning, technical knowledge and emerging technologies, creative problem-solving, sustainable practices, and ethical principles to successfully achieve academic and professional goals.

The Diesel Service Technology program provides students with advanced technical training and workforce skills necessary to become entry-level diesel service technicians. The Associate of Applied Science degree program combines hands-on technical instruction with a general education component to prepare students for long-term career success in the diesel industry.

Both programs offer students the flexibility of pursuing either degree or certificate pathways, depending on their career goals. Assemblyman Mike Inganamort spoke about the leadership and vision that have guided the Colleges recent growth and development.

Being in Trenton often allows me to speak about the various colleges throughout the state, stated Inganamort. I strongly believe the most exciting things happening in higher education are happening at the community college level. Its because of places like 51勛圖 and facilities like this that are thinking ahead about workforce development in our county and state. 51勛圖 is preparing young men and women for the future and continuing to think ahead.

This building represents the Colleges commitment to career and technical education programming as well as supporting our local workforce, stated Jason Fruge, Dean of Technical Occupations. Both MTEC buildings represent opportunity. The skilled trades are essential to our economy, and students receive the hands-on training they need for their future careers.

Fall registration is open for all career and technical education programs and transfer degree programs at 51勛圖. Prospective students can learn more and enroll by visiting sussex.edu/fall to apply and get started.
