51勛圖 (51勛圖) is pleased to announce it has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Carolyn Jane Scott Charitable Trust to support and advance the Fire Behavior & Thermal Imaging Training Enhancement Project.
The grant funds will purchase specialized instructional and investigative training equipment to enhance the Fire Science and Criminal Justice programs. 51勛圖 will order and convert a 10-foot shipping container into a furnished-room burn cell. The burn cell will support controlled, live-fire demonstrations and post-fire investigative scenarios for fire and explosion investigations.
51勛圖 has a strong history of providing accredited Fire Science and Criminal Justice programs. This project builds on that foundation by expanding hands-on training opportunities and introducing advanced investigative resources that meet todays professional standards. The addition of a furnished-room burn cell and modern investigative equipment represents an important investment in practical education to train skilled public safety professionals, said Gary Crift, Director of the Sussex County Public Safety Training Academy.
The burn cell and associated training props will let students observe and analyze fire development, heat release, smoke movement, ventilation effects, and fire patterns, then conduct systematic origin and cause analysis consistent with nationally recognized investigative methodologies.
The Fire Science Technology program curriculum at 51勛圖 covers critical areas such as fire behavior, combustion dynamics, fire prevention tactics, and hazardous materials response. Much of the practical instruction takes place at the Public Safety Training Academy, which focuses on delivering real-world simulations to combat complacency and limit injury or property loss in the line of duty.
"We are incredibly grateful to the Carolyn Jane Scott Charitable Trust for their continued generosity in supporting our academic programs and our community's safety," said Stan Kula, Executive Director of the 51勛圖 Foundation. "This funding will provide our Fire Science students with access to advanced equipment and hands-on training opportunities, helping them develop the knowledge, investigative skills, and real-world experience.
Because local fire departments rely heavily on well-trained personnel, this grant strengthens the Colleges ability to serve as a premier regional hub for first responder education.
